Counselling for Tinnitus Skills
Event details
Date
November 14
Time
9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Counselling for Tinnitus Skills has been developed in direct response to feedback from professionals who wanted more focused training on the counselling side of tinnitus support. Unlike our broader Tinnitus Adviser Training course, this one-day programme places counselling skills at the forefront – incorporating your prior tinnitus knowledge to best support people with tinnitus.
This makes it the ideal course for healthcare practitioners, audiologists, hearing care professionals, and support staff who already understand tinnitus but want to strengthen their ability to support clients on a deeper, more person-centred level.
The training introduces essential counselling principles and demonstrates how these can be applied directly in tinnitus care. You’ll gain insight into person-centred and cognitive-behavioural approaches, exploring how these frameworks help create supportive conversations that validate clients’ experiences, encourage resilience, and foster empowerment.
What you’ll gain from this course:
- Practical skills you can immediately use in clinic, including active listening, empathy, open-ended questioning, and reflective responding.
- Greater confidence in supporting the emotional and psychological needs of clients alongside their audiological care.
- Techniques to build trust, encourage coping strategies, and reframe clients’ relationship with tinnitus.
- A safe space to practice these skills through interactive discussions and role-plays.
By the end of the course, participants will be better equipped to integrate counselling techniques into their clinical interactions. They will have increased confidence in their ability to offer psychological support alongside audiological care, fostering more holistic and person-centered outcomes for individuals living with tinnitus.
Please note this course is run online on Zoom and webcam cameras must be on throughout the duration of the course (apart from breaks).
