The Excellence in Tinnitus Care Award celebrates and recognises hearing health professionals who have demonstrated outstanding commitment, innovation, and effectiveness in the treatment and management of tinnitus. This award is open to audiologists (NHS and private), ENTs, GPs, and other healthcare professionals making a significant impact in this field.

Award Outline

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Open to healthcare professionals and other people supporting people with tinnitus working in the UK.
  2. Must have demonstrated an active role in the treatment, support or management of tinnitus in the past two years.
  3. Can be self-nominated or nominated by a patient, colleague, or organisation.
  4. Evidence of measurable outcomes and patient-centric approaches is required.

Award Categories:

  • Excellence in Tinnitus – Hearing Health Professional of the Year
  • Rising Star in Tinnitus Treatment (for professionals with fewer than 5 years of practice)
  • Excellence in Tinnitus Support (for non-hearing health professionals who provide support to people living with tinnitus, such as helpline advisers and support workers)

Judgment Criteria

Judges will evaluate nominations based on the following weighted criteria:

  1. Patient Impact 
    • Evidence of improved patient outcomes, quality of life, and satisfaction.
    • Testimonials or case studies demonstrating the professional’s effectiveness.
  2. Innovation and Research 
    • Implementation of new treatment methods, technologies, or approaches.
    • Contribution to research or the development of best practices in tinnitus care.
  3. Professional Excellence
    • Consistent delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care.
    • Commitment to continued education and staying at the forefront of tinnitus treatment.
  4. Collaboration and Advocacy 
    • Contributions to multidisciplinary care and collaboration with other professionals.
    • Advocacy for tinnitus awareness or involvement in public education campaigns.
  5. Leadership and Mentorship
    • Demonstrated ability to inspire, mentor, and support colleagues or trainees in the field.

1. Who is eligible to apply or be nominated for the award?
The award is open to healthcare and support professionals in the UK who work with tinnitus patients, including NHS and private audiologists, ENTs, GPs, other healthcare providers, helplines and community support. Nominations can be self-submitted or made by patients, colleagues, or employers.

2. Can I nominate myself?

You can include:

No, there is no fee for submitting a nomination.

5. How will winners be selected?
A judging panel consisting of Tinnitus UK representatives, audiologists, patient advocates, and other experts will evaluate nominations based on patient impact, innovation, professional excellence, collaboration, and leadership.

6. When will winners be announced?
The winners will be announced at the Annual Tinnitus UK Conference on Friday, 19 September 2025 and we will invite those shortlisted to attend.

7. Can a team or clinic be nominated instead of an individual?
No, this award is designed to recognise individuals. However, we encourage teams to nominate standout members of their practice.

8. Will nominees receive feedback on their applications?
Due to the volume of entries, we may not be able to provide individual feedback. Finalists will be notified in advance of the conference.

9. How will the winners be recognised?
Winners will receive:

  • An award presented at the Annual Tinnitus UK Conference.
  • Recognition in Tinnitus UK’s publications and social media channels.
  • An opportunity to share their work in a dedicated feature article.
