Tinnitus UK Update: Alex is moving on

After a whirlwind 18 months of reorganisation and rebuilding, Alex Brooks-Johnson, the CEO of Tinnitus UK has made the decision to move on. 

Alex said, “leaving Tinnitus UK was a tremendously difficult decision to make, especially as we are seeing the positive impact of all the changes and rebuilding which has taken place in the past 18 months.” 

Alex lives on the south coast and the charity is based in Sheffield and, while this has always been the case, Alex has found the remote working and time away from his young family a particular challenge. 

Alex added, “I would like to say how grateful I am for the support I have received personally since I have been at Tinnitus UK.  The team have been brilliant to work with, and their dedication and passion know no bounds. What they achieve as a small team is nothing short of astounding.  The Board of Trustees have been very supportive, and under Pierre’s leadership we now enjoy a positive, constructive relationship with some industry leading technical knowledge and expertise. 

I will miss the volunteers, partners, support group leaders and the tinnitus community, all bound by a common goal of wanting better outcomes for people with tinnitus.  It has been a brief but important part of my career, and I will remember it fondly and with an over-whelming sense of achievement. Thanks to the efforts of the team over the last 18 months, we are now making tangible progress in raising the profile of tinnitus, of Tinnitus UK and the thousands of people we support.” 

Alex leaves around Easter and Tinnitus UK will now begin a search for their next CEO. 

Pierre Espinasse, Chair of the Board of Trustees, commented, “while we are sad to see Alex go, this is a great opportunity for us to think about the future and recruiting a new leader to help take us forward.” He added, “We have a wonderful team and a solid platform, now is the perfect time for someone to join us and continue our growth and development.”
