Can you help?
Tinnitus UK are co-applicants with a team from NIHR Nottingham who are planning to examine the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of hearing aids for people with tinnitus via a large scale randomised controlled trial.
We are looking for people to comment on the design of the proposed trial and give their opinions on how the research will be carried out. This will help make the application the strongest it can be, and the most relevant to people living with tinnitus.
Who can help?
If you:
- Have been recently diagnosed with tinnitus
- Have not yet had an initial appointment with an audiologist, ENT or hearing therapist
- Have no perceptible hearing loss
- Are comfortable speaking in a small group in English
- Have access to a computer with video call capability (Teams or Zoom)
- Have up to two hours free for an on-line focus group
we would love to hear from you.
How can I help?
You will be invited to attend an on-line focus group in late March/early April which will take no more than two hours.
The focus group will explore the proposed application and design of the trial, and will discuss how the research will be carried out, and how people feel about the suggested treatments.
Will I get paid for my time?
Participation is voluntary, and there is no payment.
Will I have to take part in the full trial?
No. This is only a proposal at this time. If funding is secured, if you meet the criteria when the trial is underway, you would of course be welcome to volunteer.
How can I register my interest?
Please get in touch if you are interested in participating or have any questions about the focus group with Nic Wray on research@tinnitus.org.uk
