Tinnitus UK launches initiative to improve accessibility of quality tinnitus care
SoundChoice is a new programme from Tinnitus UK, helping provide better signposting for people living with tinnitus
New research into tinnitus in the workplace has highlighted the hidden economic costs of tinnitus, with up to 20% of adults cutting working hours or leaving employment because of the condition.
Many people experiencing tinnitus struggle to find clear, consistent, high-quality support.
In response, Tinnitus UK is launching SoundChoice, a new confidence mark designed to help people identify clinics providing trusted tinnitus care.
Launching on 18th March, SoundChoice recognises organisations that meet the standards set out in the Tinnitus Charter, demonstrating a commitment to credible support, responsible practice, and high-quality care for people living with tinnitus.
With tinnitus affecting millions of people across the UK, many individuals report difficulty navigating support pathways after leaving NHS services or when seeking specialist help.
SoundChoice aims to provide a simple, visible way for people to identify trusted providers, while encouraging organisations to commit to clear standards of care.
“Too many people with tinnitus tell us they feel lost when trying to find reliable help,” said Danny Knight, Partnerships Manager at Tinnitus UK.
“SoundChoice is designed to change that. By recognising organisations that meet the Tinnitus Charter, we are creating a clear confidence mark so people can find support they can trust.”
The initiative also encourages organisations, clinics, and employers to do more for the tinnitus community, showing their commitment to tinnitus care and earning their place on the programme.
Organisations that meet the criteria will be recognised as SoundChoice partners, signalling that they deliver services aligned with the Tinnitus Charter and best practice in tinnitus support.
For individuals living with tinnitus, SoundChoice will help make the search for trusted tinnitus care clearer and more straightforward.
Care providers can apply to become recognised SoundChoice partners, while people living with tinnitus can use the programme to identify trusted services.
Currently available for independent clinics, the charity intends to expand the programme to NHS and high street providers in the future.
SoundChoice launches on 18th March, and applications from clinics are open now.
