Before anything else, thank you.
Whether you donated, became a member, attended an event, shared your story, or simply took time to engage with our work, your support has made a real difference this year. Because of you, more people found help when they needed it, professionals are better equipped to support tinnitus, and awareness of tinnitus and hearing health continues to grow.
So, what has your support helped us do? Here are six ways we’ve been working towards a world without tinnitus in 2025:

Ensuring people with tinnitus have immediate access to high-quality support
Making sure people can access help quickly, compassionately and reliably is at the heart of everything we do.
In 2025, over 200,000 people turned to our website for trusted tinnitus information, and more than 4,000 people used Take on Tinnitus to better understand and manage their symptoms. Our helpline team supported over 4,000 callers, many of whom reached out at moments of real distress.
We also continued to grow our network of support groups, with 74 local groups and five online groups now offering connection, reassurance and shared understanding across the UK. For many people, these services are a vital first step towards coping again, and your support makes them possible.

In 2025, we overhauled how our Tinnitus UK membership works and wanted to give back to our generous members. We have added a variety of benefits when you join as a Tinnitus UK member, including free earplugs manufactured by ACS Custom, Members’ webinars throughout the year, hosted by professionals to help you better manage your tinnitus and much more.

Raising awareness and helping prevent tinnitus before it starts
This year, we placed a renewed focus on prevention and awareness, helping people understand the risks of noise exposure while still enjoying the sounds that matter to them.
From safe listening messaging and updated information to public-facing events, we worked to ensure that hearing health remains part of everyday conversations. Our nationwide Tinnitus Roadshows were a powerful example of this mission in action, bringing together people living with tinnitus, clinicians and experts for free days of learning, reassurance and connection.
For many attendees, it was the first time they had met others who truly understood what living with tinnitus is like, and the feedback showed just how important these moments of visibility and understanding are.
We would like to thank everyone who joined us for our 2025 Tinnitus Conference, which was the first in-person conference in several years. It was a very special day for the tinnitus community to meet face to face.
This year’s conference brought together clinicians, researchers, and support group leaders to share knowledge and explore the future of tinnitus care. From the opening keynote, Working Together for the Future, to lively discussions on prevention, protection, mental health access, and research innovation, the programme reflected the breadth of progress being made across the field.

Providing high-quality information, advice and training on tinnitus
Helping people and professionals make informed decisions about tinnitus care is a core part of our work.
In 2025, we updated our treatment information to better reflect the latest evidence, giving people clearer, more transparent guidance about safety and effectiveness.
Instead of the previous “recommendation” system, treatments are now rated in two key areas:
Safety: whether the treatment is safe, ranging from rigorous evidence of safety to evidence of significant harm.
Efficacy: whether there is evidence that the treatment works for tinnitus, ranging from robust evidence of effectiveness to evidence that it is not effective.
We hope this will give you more control over your own care, while also helping you can make the best decision possible.

Tinnitus UK has an amazing team of volunteers who have delivered support across the whole organisation in 2025. They supported 195 individuals through our online support groups and spent roughly 670 hours providing information and support on our helpline and webchat. Volunteers also gave their time to help shape Tinnitus UK’s new strategy, provide individual support through befriending, run events, facilitate support group meetings, carry out office administration, help with research, and much more!

Working with professionals to improve care for people with tinnitus
Improving tinnitus care means working closely with the professionals who deliver it.
In 2025, we attended 16 professional events and conferences, four times as many as last year, meeting thousands of clinicians, researchers, students and early-career professionals. We launched new training programmes, continued to develop existing courses, and introduced the Tinnitus Professional Network, creating a space for care providers to learn, share and collaborate.
We also met some inspiring students and young professionals. By sharing your stories and experiences, you helped us inspire the next generation of tinnitus specialists, helping to ensure that tomorrow’s care is better than today’s.

Ensuring people with tinnitus have a voice in decisions that affect them
Your lived experience is essential to shaping better services, research and policy.
Throughout 2025, we worked to ensure that people with tinnitus are heard, through surveys, consultations, events and shared stories. These insights help guide our priorities and ensure that our work reflects what truly matters to those living with tinnitus.
This commitment also underpins our advocacy work, strengthening our credibility when speaking to decision-makers and system leaders on your behalf.

Influencing policy and building momentum for change
Meaningful change requires sustained influence.
Earlier in the year, we appointed a new Chair & trustees. Our new Chair of the board of trustees, Pierre Espinasse, is a former Chief Executive of a medical research funding foundation and brings extensive experience of charity governance and strategy development, having served on the Board of other charities, including the UK Research Integrity Office. Pierre has been learning to live with tinnitus over the last few years.

This year, we continued to raise tinnitus with policymakers, funders and sector leaders, making the case for better access to care, improved awareness and long-term investment.
We were also delighted to welcome broadcaster and journalist Kirsty Gallacher as a Tinnitus UK Ambassador. By sharing her own experience of tinnitus, Kirsty has helped reach new audiences, challenge misconceptions and reinforce a crucial message: support is available, and no one has to face tinnitus alone.

We also want to say a special thank you to everyone who supported our appeal this year. Thanks to your generosity, including Gift Aid and match funding of The Corcoran Foundation, your support helped us to raise £500,000 in this financial year. This is already helping us strengthen services, invest in awareness and prevention, and build a more sustainable future for Tinnitus UK. . If it wasn’t for your support, we wouldn’t be there for the 8 million people in the UK who are living with tinnitus who need support.
2025 has been a year of momentum and progress, and none of it would have been possible without you.
