Finding My Voice: Grace’s Journey from Music to Marketing with Tinnitus UK
Grace shares her tinnitus journey
When I was diagnosed with pulsatile tinnitus just a few weeks before starting university, I wasn’t sure how I was going to cope. The diagnosis process had been stressful and uncertain, and suddenly the condition was affecting every part of my life, my sleep, my studies, and even my social confidence. As a young person trying to find my feet in a new environment, it felt incredibly isolating.
That all began to change when I found Tinnitus UK.
The website became a lifeline, offering trusted advice, practical resources, and most importantly, reassurance that I wasn’t alone. For the first time, I could see that it was possible to manage tinnitus and still pursue the things I loved most, including playing music and sports.
Now, as a volunteer with Tinnitus UK, I’ve had the opportunity to give something back. It’s been an incredible experience to connect with others living with tinnitus, to share stories, offer support, and help people who, like me, didn’t know where to start.
Every conversation reminds me how powerful community can be. Seeing how Tinnitus UK’s work brings people together and empowers them to take control of their tinnitus has been truly inspiring.
Volunteering has also connected my two passions, communication and creativity. Alongside my Master’s degree in Languages at Cambridge and my background as a classical musician, I’m now supporting Tinnitus UK’s marketing and communications team, helping to raise awareness and share stories that make a difference.
“Seeing the impact that these groups have on every individual, as well as the supportive community they create, just goes to show how invaluable and essential Tinnitus UK’s work is.”
Grace’s story is a reminder that tinnitus doesn’t have to hold you back, with the right support and community, it’s possible to keep doing what you love and even find new ways to help others along the way.
