“Surpassed my expectations!”: Should you attend Tinnitus UK’s next free info day?
Reflections on our Let's Talk Tinnitus events
Tinnitus can often feel isolating, confusing and overwhelming – but recent “Let’s Talk Tinnitus” events hosted by Tinnitus UK in Exeter and Poole are proving just how powerful information, reassurance and shared experiences can be.
Held as part of Tinnitus UK’s commitment to supporting people living with tinnitus, the two events brought together individuals from across the Southwest to learn more about the condition, discover practical management strategies and, perhaps most importantly, realise they are not alone.
The feedback from attendees paints a clear picture: these events are making a real difference.
A powerful way to take back control
95% said they left feeling the event was worthwhile, and they were equipped with enough information to take forward. 87% said they learnt something new about tinnitus, reported a better understanding of the condition and the options available to help manage it.
For many attendees, reassurance was one of the event’s greatest benefits. 84% said they felt less alone because of their tinnitus after attending, and 85% found it helpful to be among others living with similar experiences.
One attendee reflected: “It’s good to know there is a community out there…Well done for putting on the event.”
Another praised the event as “very informative…a good start point for advice for anyone new to tinnitus,” while others highlighted the value of meeting fellow attendees and discussing shared challenges. “Very clear information,” one participant said, “so helpful to talk to others with the tinnitus condition.”
A true community feeling
Feedback highlighted not only the practical value of the sessions but also the welcoming atmosphere. One attendee described the event as “relaxed, inclusive and interactive,” adding that it was “informative about strategies that can help.” Another praised the people-first approach, saying: “Very people-centred.”
Perhaps most encouragingly, around half of attendees in both Exeter and Poole said they felt more able to manage their tinnitus after the event – a meaningful step for people often searching for practical ways to regain confidence and control.
The message from Exeter and Poole is simple: support matters, knowledge helps and community can be transformative.
Don’t miss out!
If you are living with tinnitus – whether newly diagnosed or managing symptoms for years – Tinnitus UK’s upcoming Tinnitus Information Day events in Cardiff and Bournemouth offer a valuable opportunity to learn, ask questions and connect with others who understand what you are going through.
You may arrive with questions, uncertainty or even scepticism – but if recent feedback is anything to go by, you are likely to leave feeling better informed, more reassured and far less alone.
Long-lasting impact with new Support Groups
Most excitingly, the impact of these events will be felt for a long time in Exeter and Poole. Thanks to some dedicated local volunteers and tinnitus professionals, both cities will soon be home to brand new Tinnitus Support Groups.
“One event might be helpful, but knowing that the tinnitus community is coming together to support one another here is incredible” said Danny Knight from Tinnitus UK.
“Support Groups are one of the best ways to take back control of your tinnitus, so we must say a huge thanks to the volunteers who have stepped forward for their commitment – and to the National Lottery for helping make this work possible.”
